Mixing aching cool, inventive food and normal pub life is no mean achievement, but The Lord Clifden does it in style; a Victorian pub whose stained glass windows now hide the best collection of urban art outside London.
It might be in Birmingham’s Shoreditch, but poncey it aint. The regulars who used to drink here – before Graham Smith bought and renovated it – are still coming along, joined by some newer faces; Damien Hirst was recently spotted.
From Banksy and Army Lion to insider favourite Blek Le Rat, it’s open til 4 Friday and Saturday, with DJ nights, community events and art-collective gatherings. To keep it real, there’s even a darts team.
