WELCOME TO PARADISE

PARADISE CIRCUS SMALL

Walking around Paradise Circus today is hardly Birmingham’s greatest Wish you were here? experience, but that’s all set to change as the Big City Plan finally gets its mitts on the concrete walkways and brutalism that clog this part of town.

Out go the old library, Copthorne Hotel and other remnants of our carbuncle-laden past, and in come a series of bright pedestrian boulevards and open green spaces, connecting New Street with Symphony Hall in considerable people-friendly panache.

With competitions for new buildings and landscaping, the whole caboodle will not only bring forth a beautiful and walkable new city realm, but also enhance the listed civic architecture of the Town Hall, BMAG and Council House as historic centrepieces of a modern public forum.
